Fuel Oil Treatment For Sludge Control

Home

bunkering_2.jpg (3922 bytes)PRI-SOLV is an extraordinarily powerful fuel oil sludge dispersant and emulsifier designed to overcome sludge fouling and poor combustion associated with today’s problematic heavy fuel oils.

How does fuel oil sludge affect combustion? Many of today’s bunker fuels are catalytically cracked then blended with mid-distillates. This blending often results in the stratification and fall-out of asphaltene based sludge which layers at tank bottoms and fouls fuel system components.

This sludge is comprised of heavy carbon particles, hydrocarbon tars, and inorganic substances like iron oxide, sand and clay. Combined with water, salts and acids, these materials are primarily responsible for fuel system corrosion. Combustion is also affected. Incomplete combustion of these heavy materials results in varnishing and plugging of burner tips and fuel injectors, with progressively poorer fuel atomization.

bunkring_6g.jpg (3920 bytes)With its heavy penetrating action, PRI-SOLV cuts through these heavy polymeric masses with a powerful dissolving action which emulsifies these materials back into the fuel. By greatly reducing sludge particle size and suspending these particles, PRI-SOLV greatly inhibits deposits and promotes proper fuel atomization.

PRI-SOLV also emulsifies water in fuel that is a result of condensation or contamination. This emulsified water is carried along with the fuel to the burner or injector tip and is consequently vaporized in combustion. Additionally, PRI-SOLV creates a thin, protective coating on fuel system components which resists both corrosion and sludge build-up. PRI-SOLV also lowers pour point, greatly reduces smoke opacity and soot, and enhances fuel stability in long term storage.

Best of all, PRI-SOLV has an incredibly economical treatment ratio of 1:20,000 at a very reasonable price, making it extremely economical.  For extremely difficult fuels, dosage may be increased to 1:10,000.
